BlazeSports provides sports training, competitions, summer camps and other sports and recreational opportunities for youth and adults with spinal cord injury, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, muscular dystrophy, amputation, visual impairment or blindness as well as other physical disabilities.
 National Boccia Championships Head to Georgia BlazeSports will host the U.S. National Boccia Championships July 9-12 at the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, Ga. Athletes with physical disability from around the country are expected to compete in this unique sport of skill.
Boccia is a game of precision open to wheelchair athletes with cerebral palsy and persons who have conditions that affect all four limbs such as high level spinal cord injury, muscular dystrophy and multiple sclerosis. The object of the game is to place balls closest to a target ball on a long, narrow court. There are divisions for athletes who throw the ball and for athletes who use a ramp to propel the balls onto the court. Registration Information Click Here

Trailblazers Leadership Training Kickoff a Success! Atlanta area youth with physical disabilities developed leadership skills while building friendships with their peers during the launch of BlazeSports Trailblazers Youth Leadership Training March 28-29 at Kennesaw State University. The training focused on developing leadership skills, self responsibility, healthy lifestyle behaviors and prevocational skills for young people with disability aged 13 and up.
A two-day retreat, including an orientation session with parents or guardians, kicked off the program and will be followed by three interactive workshops held once per month. The Trailblazers program will culminate with a graduation ceremony June 14. Participating youth will receive a graduation certificate and also have many opportunities to apply their leadership skills during the program through real-life experiences.

Ann Cody Helps Kickoff 2008 Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships Ann Cody, BlazeSports Director of Partnerships and Public Policy, officially kicked off the 2008 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships in Boston with a ceremonial puck drop at the at the Bruins – Maple Leafs game March 25. Cody, an IPC Governing Board member, accompanied by former Bruin Willie O’Ree declared the championships open before a capacity crowd at the TD Banknorth Garden. Organized by Massachusetts Hockey in co-operation with US Paralympics, around 200 athletes from ten countries will participate in the World Championships which runs through April 5. Ice Sledge Hockey is practiced in approximately 15 countries worldwide and is governed by the IPC. It follows the rules of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) with minor modifications to eligibility, sports equipment and officiating rules. Instead of skates, players use two-blade sledges that allow the puck to pass beneath. They also have sticks with a spike-end for pushing and a blade-end for shooting.

 Nebraska Red Dawgs Crowned Champions at the National Prep Wheelchair Basketball Tournament February 22 - 24 , 2008 Kennesaw, Georgia The Nebraska Red Dawgs defeated Michigan's Sterling Heights Challengers 34 - 20 to claim the 2008 National Prep Wheelchair Basketball Championship. The tournament, hosted by BlazeSports America, saw over 100 young athletes with physical disability aged 8-13 engage in spirited competition for a chance to be Champions. More Information...
